Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) has committed to a 17 million pound investment scheme which will be constructed between 2014 – 2015. The project includes a four storey extension to the Photography Department and will also provide a new lecture theatre, social learning space, IT suites and staff facilities. A new entrance foyer and areas for display will connect the new development to the existing building.

The design of the scheme has been created by using photographic processes, with the principle facade featuring an array of digitally printed glazed fins that act as a filter to reflect, diffuse and moderate daylight into the building interior. The building form is a black box with apertures forming roof lights, windows and ventilation louvres, allowing controlled natural light and air through the atrium and circulation spaces, providing low-energy environmental control.

The Arts University Bournemouth is recognised both nationally and internationally as a leading University, offering high quality specialist education in art, design, media and performance.

Morgan Sindall, the construction, infrastructure and design division of Morgan Sindall Group plc., a leading UK construction and regeneration group, won the contract to design and construct the AUB extension. Morgan Sindall, based in Poole, has installed Lattice Plate Flooring manufactured by Pekso Precast UK, for the first, second and third floors and the roof plan.
